Two Veterans of 911 Begin New Life 16 Years to the Day of Tragedy

It may seem serendipitous, some will say more than ironic, but two veterans of our nation’s greatest tragedy of the last two decades are beginning new lives today by opening their respective home inspectors franchises.

42-year-old Thomas Lemrow Jr. will bring a keen eye and attention to detail to his new career that will be hard to match given his experiences over the last 25 years. Lemrow and his family recently moved to St. Augustine, Florida from Hope Mills, N.C., where he spent the last six years as a UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter Maintenance Test Pilot and was a U.S. Army helicopter pilot for 13 years overall. Lemrow spent a combined 25 years in the Regular Army and Florida Army National Guard before retiring earlier this year to spend more time with his family. Lemrow will be serving clients throughout northeast Florida, including Jacksonville and Nassau County, but more specifically Flagler, Putnam and St. Johns counties… Read More.

After Three Decades in Natural Gas Industry Local Boy Comes Home to Start His Own Pillar To Post Business

(CANONSBURG, Pennsylvania)-Time might be the most precious commodity of all, especially when it comes to having control over it. But that’s increasingly hard to do in the workplace. According to a United Nations study, 85.8 of American males work more than 40 hours a week as do 66.5 percent of females. The International Labour Organization says that American workers put in 137 more hours per year than their Japanese counterparts, 260 more hours than British workers and 499 more hours than the French.

All the more reason for why 53-year-old Kevin Lewis became a Pillar To Post Home Inspectors® franchise owner, launching operations this month. Lewis recently returned to Canonsburg from Farmington, Minn., after having previously lived in this area from 1974 to 2014. Lewis spent more than 30 years in the natural gas industry –with Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania and most recently as an operations manager with Northern Natural Gas while in Minnesota – but he was ready for a career change and something more “I was looking for an opportunity to change careers and have greater control over my time,” Lewis said. “Pillar To Post offered that opportunity.” Pillar To Post serves home buyers and sellers in Allegheny, Beaver, Fayette, Greene and Washington counties… Read More.

Former Vogtle Employee Finds Second Career as Home Inspector

Remington CEO Victor Kiam rose to TV fame in the 1970s by using this line to sell electric razors: “I liked the shaver so much, I bought the company.”

That’s the very short version of Dallas Gardner’s story. He liked a home inspection so much, he bought a franchise in a home inspection business.

The real story is a bit longer than that.

Gardner, who lives in Martinez, spent 16 years in the nuclear construction business. But just a few weeks ago he became one of the newest franchisees for Pillar To Post, with more than 550 locations throughout North America.

Home inspections often are conducted during the process of buying a house. An inspector will look at a home’s exterior, interior, utilities, appliances and safety features to report to an owner or potential buyer if there are repair or maintenance issues that need to be addressed… Read More.

Couple Goes From Oil Business to Own Business Using Keen Eye for Detail

(BAKERSFIELD, California)--It's always wise to stay a step ahead, rather than a step behind. Robert Garner, 33, worked as a reliability specialist for a major oil company and had survived the almost half-million job layoffs globally that resulted from the most recent industry downturn. However, having always wanted to go into business for himself, Garner chose to go down a new path by becoming a franchise owner – along with his wife, Ali – with Pillar To Post Home Inspectors®, which launched operations July 10 and serves clients throughout Kern County.

“I decided to pull the trigger after long consideration,” said Garner, a Bakersfield native who had spent 12 years in the oil and gas industry. “I had always wanted to go into business for myself, but the layoffs in the oil industry and the fact my job was combined did weigh in my decision.” As a reliability specialist, Garner's focus was on identifying and managing asset reliability risks that could adversely affect operations… Read More.
